Deputy Leader

70 years old Hon. Aimu Foni, was born in Ajiri town of Chibok Local Government Area and elected to the Hon. House on the platform of the PDP during the April 2011 general elections and later decamped to the Ruling All Progressive Congress {APC}, where he got the mandate of his people for the second time.

Hon. Aimu Foni, after his elementary school, he was recruited into the Nigeria Police Force and served in many capacities in Adamawa, Borno, Lagos, Yobe States Police Commands and retired in active service as Substantive Assistant Superintendent of Police {ASP} in 2002 after serving for 32 meritorious years

Hon. Aimu attended a good number of courses which prepared him for the challenges of his responsibilities. Among courses he attended were 9 months Course at the Nigeria Police College, Kaduna; PC-CPL and CPL-SGT courses at the Police Training School, Yola from 1980 – 1981; Detective course at Police College, Enugu, 1982; 6 months NCOS Development Course 1986; 3 months Sgt – Inspector Course at the Police College, Maiduguri in 1987.

He contested and won the seat of Member of the Borno State House of Assembly, Chibok State Constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party {PDP} and sworn in as member of the Seventh House of Assembly. He was nominated by his colleagues as Minority Whip and later endorsed as Minority Party Leader before decamping to the All Progressive Congress {APC}. At the end of his tenure, he was re-elected for the second on the platform of the APC and nominated as Deputy Leader on 7th January, 2017. He chairs the Public Accounts Committee of the House and a member of many other legislative committees until the end of the tenure of the 8th Assembly.

He was also re-elected for the third time in 2019 and retain his position of Deputy Leader of the House. He currently chairs the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development and member of many House Committees.

A happily married farmer was a Chairman, Christian Pilgrims Committee on Borno State, likes farming as hobby.

A traditional title, Zanna Gaddama of Damaturu was conferred on him by the Emir of Damaturu, Yobe State, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II El-Kanemi in reciprocation of his immense contribution for the development of Damaturu.
